Knit Along the Norwegian Coast with ARNE & CARLOS

Welcome to ARNE&CARLOS Knitting Cruise!

It is with great pleasure we welcome you to Norway for our Knitting Cruise - Knit Along the Norwegian Coast with ARNE&CARLOS! This eventful tour will take you to the capital Oslo for a two days pre cruise program, before taking the train over the scenic mountains westbound to Bergen, where the cruise starts its journey along the coast. Both in Bergen and Oslo, sightseeing tours are included with interesting stops at yarn factories and other highlights!

For this adventure we have chosen the best Norway has to offer, with first-class hotel accommodation, and most meals are included - the coastal cuisine onboard MS Nordlys will delight you! September is a very beautiful time in Norway. Autumn along Norway’s coast is known as the season of color. In September brilliant reds, yellows and orange dominate the mountainsides, hilltops, and woods. Astonishingly blue skies contrast against the highest peaks, white with the season’s first snows. The days grow shorter, the nights longer, and with luck, you may even see the magical Northern Lights!

During the cruise, you will enjoy the company of your hosts ARNE&CARLOS, attend their interesting lectures and take part in the exciting mystery knitalong! You will have the opportunity to meet and learn from a Norwegian knitting expert - the government grant holder, recipient of the King’s Medal, and ‘The Sweater Detective’ Annemor Sundbø. The trip of a lifetime - you don’t want to miss this opportunity!

In Ålesund the inhabitants claim this is Norway’s most beautiful town – and they could very well be right. The city is renowned for its stunning Art Nouveau architecture. From Ålesund the ship will visit the Hjørundfjord which is one of the most untouched, idyllic, and beautiful fjords in Norway. It is a 35-kilometer (22 mi) long arm of the larger Storfjorden in the district of Sunnmøre in Western Norway. The Hjørundfjord is surrounded by the Sunnmøre Alps, with peaks that reach up to 1,700 meters straight up from the fjord. The steep mountains plunging right down in the fjord have made it impossible to cultivate the land area. Most of the natural vegetation is still intact. Although there is not much space for settlements here, a few obstinate tiny farms cling to the mountainsides and there are some small villages along the fjord.

Day 6                    19 Sep 2022 Trondheim (B, L, D)

She is a government grant holder and a recipient of the King's Medal - she is also known as the 'Norwegian Sweater Detective'. We sail through the Lofoten archipelago towards the pretty fishing village Svolvær, for a late evening call.

In the afternoon the ship will arrive in Tromsø, a gateway to the Arctic and the largest city in Northern Norway – also called ‘Paris of the North’, because of its lively restaurant and bar scene.
